ABOUT US
Born in Hawaii, chased by the tidal wave of April Fools Day 1946, from Mokule’ia to, after some months, to Kailua, raised by the sea, in love with the ocean, the fish, the wind in coconut trees, the bright full moon racing through the clouds held in the black sky by the giant banyan tree where I first met Rama, like in a dream, carried over the weather worn wooden bridge the from the kitchen house, dinner cooking on the stove and cozy with pillows on the giant hiki’e*, across to the house closer to beach where the bedrooms and bath guarded us in our sleep.
Enough of that for now. I have always been fascinated by computer screensavers that display pictures randomly so each is a mini-surprise. Sometimes, but with a reasonable regularity, the picture that pops up on the screen informs the moment in a sort of magical way.
A recent example: I was telling a new friend about my younger sister, and her daughter, my niece. Behind me was the computer I am now telling this story on, and it was running the Ramascreensaver that I, along with a lot of expensive help, have been
developing for the last three years (yes, it takes that long, and no, I wouldn’t have started if I had known just how much money and time I would have to pour into getting to this point). I happened to to glance behind me, and the monitor was showing this picture – me, Lynn, and Heather on their Haleiwa farm. Amazed by Rama, once again, I stopped Rama and saved the shot, and here it is:
